Dear Reader,
It's evident through our involvement in the 2008 presidential election that Generation Y is more politically engaged than any other.

Not only do we watch political spoofs on Saturday Night Live and Comedy Central, but we also watch live news, laughing to ourselves when we identify spoof material.

We stop to view election coverage on T.V. screens in The Lot and browse CNN, MSNBC and Yahoo.com for live updates from our cell phones. We clutch these devices, anxious to receive text announcements from candidates.

We adorn campaign t-shirts, stickers and buttons and even hang election posters in our dorm rooms. But is the presidential election our only political focus?

While it's important for us to be knowledgeable about each candidate's platform, we should be equally informed on propositions.

On Nov. 4, we have the opportunity to vote on issues such as gay marriage, renewable energy and teenage abortion. Unlike the arbitrary answers we choose on our class evaluation scantrons, in a rush to leave early on the last day of the semester, we must strategically choose answers on our voting ballot.

Who or what we vote for affects each of our lives and to ensure we make the right decision, we must be informed.

I encourage you to read through the ballot brochure mailed to your address, attend an information session on the propositions or read more about each proposition online just before you log onto Facebook.

It's our right to vote, one that our ancestors-the generations of slaves and civil rights activists-fought for us to have.

So Vote On!
